Legislative session review

Last week I joined with Representatives Judy Clibborn and Tana Senn — both from Mercer Island — to recap the 2016 legislative session and answer questions from members of the Mercer Island Chamber of Commerce.

We shared session highlights and updates to our state’s operating, transportation and capital budgets. Those in attendance were interested in a variety of issues including how local property tax levies are used for schools and how future levy reform fits into the overall K-12 education funding discussion, as well as how to address regional housing affordability and homelessness.
